On February 17, 2009, federal law requires that all TV stations broadcast only in digital format. Viewers with a digital TV or who subscribe to a service like cable or satellite won’t have a problem viewing channels, but viewers with an analog TV will have to buy a converter box to view over-the-air digital programmers. Converters are available in stores and have a one-time cost of $40-$70. Coupons are available to help pay for the boxes.
